Solana Hotel, the fictitious hotel from the hit ITV sitcom Benidorm, is in reality Sol Pelicanos Ocas– a popular 3-star hotel Rincon de Loix district. The hotel has served as the site for the mythical Hotel Solano. This hotel is popular with British holidayers, especially those looking for an all-inclusive experience.
Sol Pelicanos is a clean hotel with friendly staff. The hotel’s location, close to the sea, its restaurants, five pools, and a popular happy hour make it an ideal hotel for an Algarve holiday. Even beyond the happy hours, the drinks are affordable.
It’s a big property with 783 rooms, 7 lifts, and 25 floors. Apart from its renown as being the setting for Hotel Solano, Sol Pelicanos attracts tourists because the beach is a mere 300 metres away. The hotel is around an hour’s drive from Alicante Airport.
Buffet cuisine at the Pelicanos restaurant is an event in itself. Choose from grilled meats, salads, fruits, sweet dishes, and more. Gorge on Spanish, Italian, and Portuguese cuisine. Enjoy drinks at the Caribeno bar, Wood bar, and Lobby bar.
Families favour the Sol Pelicanos because it offers great value for money, and the fact that it offers youngsters a secure environment to enjoy. The hotel runs programmes for its young patrons. There are clubs for toddlers, children, pre-teens, and teens. These are Dreamers, Explorers, Rangers, and Kave.
The well-appointed rooms have fridges, hair dryers, and other thoughtfully provided comforts to make your stay a memorable one. You will get to view a good selection of English channels. The rooms are spacious, the bed sheets are tidy, and bathrooms clean. The pool-facing rooms are invariably in demand.
The mobility scooters available are a big draw. Use them to get around town. You will save money and get an experience that you won’t at other destinations. At the end of the day, this hotel punches above its weight. It’s a three-star property but you won’t feel it.
The Sol Pelicanos Hotel Benidorm made it’s mark when coming to fame via the hit TV series “Benidorm”. The hotel itself has now become a focal point in Benidorm and although is a hotel is also what many consider a tourist attraction. Myself no stranger to having my photo taken here. The hotel itself is located on Calle Gerona and shares it’s presence here with other popular hotels and the indoor market.
The Sol Pelicanos Hotel Benidorm is set in a perfect location with the beach, markets, shops, bars and nightlife right on the doorstep. With 783 rooms the Pelicanos is a favourite with holidaymakers and many come back year after year. The big selling point for the Pelicanos is the pool which is HUGE! As seen on the TV show it also has a walk up pool bar but must stress that when the crew are in filming they do close this section of the off. With an added jacuzzi area and a children’s area the pool area is a great place to come and relax.
There are various room options available and worth checking out what would be best for your needs but do remember your holiday is Benidorm and not the hotel room. Don’t go expecting a mesmerising 5 star penthouse room with state of the art decor just because the Pelicanos has been on the television. The rooms are spacious and do there job, as most know the Pelicanos has been having a lot of cosmetic work done at the moment so once I get some picture when they are finished I will get them posted here.
As always with any hotel in a foreign country it is hit and miss. With over 2000 bars and restaurants in Benidorm you don’t have to worry about going hungry. For those that will be staying in the Sol Pelicanos Hotel Benidorm the restaurant offers local dishes, international food and a snack bar so there is plenty of options. Any special dietary requirements make sure you let them know at reception. All in all the Pelicanos Hotel is a warm friendly place to stay, Ideal for families and large groups and a location to rival any hotel in Benidorm.
