Restaurant India Gate, Benidorm Holidays 2008

Restaurant India Gate, Benidorm is probably one of the most well known Indian restaurants in Benidorm, and all for good reasons. Before we start I must state that I have not been paid, asked or received any discounts or freebies for writing this although when I get my take away from the India Gate they sometimes pop an extra Bhaji in which being a food lover makes me happy.

Located on Calle Gerona, for those on foot in the New Town the easiest way to find the Restaurant India Gate, Benidorm is to walk along the strip heading away from Morgans towards Jumping Jacks and just keep walking along that road, cross over the main road and carry on in a straight line and you will see the India Gate on your left hand side.

It feels like the restaurant India Gate, Benidorm has been around forever and that straight away is a good sign on not only the quality of food but also the service the staff provide. Seating in the India Gate is plentiful and is airy so you don’t feel like you are eating in an oven and like most who have eaten here the outside eating option makes it more attractive, not only can you enjoy a good meal out in the fresh air but do one of my favourite pastimes, people watching.

The menu on offer at the India Gate not only offers great value set menus but also some tasty specials and caters for vegetarians, vegans and gluten free options. I personally recommend the chicken tikka masala and in the cooler months and when feeling a bit brave the madras ( don’t be shy if you want it with a kick, just ask one of the staff to let the chef know! )

The restaurant India Gate, Benidorm has a wide choice of starters to get your appetite going and are always served and cooked fresh, for me it’s onion bhajis every time as I know how good they are and the sauces and dips compliment the bhajis even more. Just one thing you may notice that the side sauces may look a different colour than back in the UK but don’t worry it’s perfectly normal it’s just how they are made in Spain and with being the only Indian restaurant actually owned by a Indian in Benidorm you can rest assured you are getting a real taste of India.
